Hello everyone, hope you're having a good weekend. I've certainly been very busy with uni work and Christmas shopping (I still have alot to do!). But I have a quick little review for you today for the Bubblegum Lip Scrub from Lush. I'll tell you what's in it as usual so you can see if there's anything you don't like and what my thoughts were on this product. Enjoy!
What's in it?
Caster Sugar, organic jojoba oil (simmondasia chinensis), alpha-isomethyl lonone, flavour, colour 45410, colour 45380.
My thoughts
This is probably the first time I've ever been really disappointed in a Lush product. Bear in mind, I haven't been using them long and I've only used their bath bombs and one face mask. But this was very disappointing, unfortunately.
First of all, the pot is very small for the price! It is over £5 I think for the UK and nearly $10 for America. This could easily be £1 for the amount you get. I suppose for those who actually enjoy this product, it is handy and you can carry it around with you in your handbag for whenever you need it.
Lush says that this exfoliates lips and preps them before you apply lipstick or balm. It's meant to make your lips very soft and free of dead skin. However, this just didn't work for me at all. It is a fun concept because you wipe it all over your lips and you can lick off the excess and it tastes very sweet and sugary. So it's fun to that extent but I sometimes have peeling skin on my lips that I have a habit of biting off. I bought this thinking it'll help me through this problem especially through winter but it doesn't remove any dead skin or leave my lips smooth at all. If anything, it leaves them slightly sticky because of the sugar!
I know people have different experiences of beauty products but this is my own opinion and you might fare better than I. I just think there is better things from Lush that you can spend a fiver or $10 on!
Have you used this? Did you have a better time with it than me?
Thankyou for reading.
Laura.
Oh I had high hopes for this! Thanks for the honesty!

You're welcome, I guess.. I don't want to put you off! But you might have a better experience of it than me. Thanks for reading anyway x
Deletesorry to hear that this didn't work for you and that it left your lips feeling sticky...perhaps you would be better to try a diy peeling for lips, for example one made from olive oil and salt?
ReplyDeletethis year I have been using coconut oil all the time and it really helped...but it hasn't gotten really cold yet so I'm not sure what to recommend for those extra cold days when our lips get really dry.

Thankyou very much for the recommendation, I may try coconut oil because I do like using that. Thankyou for reading as well x
DeleteSad to hear that you did not like this lip scrub, I myself have not tried it yet but really thanks for a great honest review!

Yeah it is a shame! Thankyou for reading x
DeleteI have used this before and thought it worked okay but I'm not a crazy fan of it like a lot of other bloggers. I personally use a tooth brush to exfoliate my lips and it not only works wonders for that it also helps to plump up my small lips! Great and honest review doll. Your blog is amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's great! Thankyou very much for commenting x
DeleteThis is so beautiful! Have a great new week. :)

DeleteI never really thought the lip scrubs would work all that well, They are definitely over priced. Not worth the money, however nice to smell. x

Yes definitely very lovely smelling! Too expensive as well for a small thing like that x
DeleteThat's such a shame that you didn't like the lip scrub! Personally I love it! I tend to use it as a lip exfoliater when I apply my moisturiser on a Sunday for the week. I used to use it all the time but found that it stopped having the same affect when using it daily!
ReplyDeleteTry using it every now and then, you might see a difference!
Lovely blogpost xxxx
I might just do that, thankyou so much for the recommendation! x
DeleteOh that's too bad! This looks like such a promising product. Thanks for the honest review.

I've been wanting to try this scrub so thanks for the review. Most scrubs contain sugar so I wonder if these are the same type of sugar. Will have to try it out!

DeleteOoh! interesting. I love Lush but hardly ever buy them because it's out of my way to get it but i love this already! haha
ReplyDeleteI don't haha, maybe you'll like it better than me x
DeleteI've never used a lip scrub, but I probably would have stayed away from this one anyway. I absolutely hate the taste of bubblegum! I don't know why, but something about it just makes me want to barf. lol
ReplyDeleteI do like Lush's Brazened Honey face mask, though. The only negative thing about that is that I never use all of it by the time it expires, and $7 every two weeks really adds up.
Erin @ The Hardcover Lover
I completely agree, Erin! I know it's pricey because it uses natural ingredients and all that but it's frustrating when things expire! I've never tried the Honey face mask but I might do :) thanks for reading and commenting x
DeleteI actually like the Lush lip scrubs but yeah, they are a bit pricey. I usually just wet my lips with water and use a bit of sugar to scrub them and get the same result.
ReplyDeleteYeah exactly and that is free! Definitely too pricey x
